• Tyuyamunite - Wikipedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyuyamunite Tyuyamunite (pronounced tuh-YOO-ya-moon-ite) is a very rare uranium mineral with formula Ca(UO 2) 2 V 2 O 8 ·(5-8)H 2 O. It is a member of the carnotite group. It is a bright, canary-yellow color because of its high uranium content. Also, because of tyuyamunite's high uranium content, it is radioactive.

Visually indistinguishable from metatyuyamunite and other uranyl vanadates. Tyuyamunite easily dehydrates in dry atmosphere to metatyuyamunite and the original chemical analysis corresponds to metatyuyamunite.

www.galleries.com/Tyuyamunite Tyuyamunite is closely related to carnotite, K2(UO2)2(VO4)2- 1-3H2O. The chemistries are very similar with potassium replacing calcium and a different percentage of water, however the structures are slightly different as tyuyamunite is orthorhombic and carnotite is monoclinic.
