• Schreyerite - Wikipedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schreyerite Schreyerite (V 2 Ti 3 O 9), is a vanadium, titanium oxide mineral found in the Lasamba Hill, Kwale district in Coast Province, Kenya. It is polymorphous with kyzylkumite. The mineral occurs as exsolution lamellae and particles in rutile, coexisting with kyanite, sillimanite, and tourmaline in a highly metamorphosed gneiss.

  • Schreyerite | Wiki | Everipedia

everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/Schreyerite Schreyerite is a reddish-brown, opaque mineral with metallic luster. Its reflectivity is slightly lower than rutile, and as a result, it is mostly gray. Pleochromism is weak: yellowish brown to reddish brown. When immersed in oil, the contrasts between rutile and schreyerite become clearer, and the color becomes more intense.

www.minsocam.org/ammin/AM63/AM63_1182.pdf Schreyerite always occurs in intergrowth with rutile. The rutile grains in the gneiss reach a diameter of up to 0.5mm and are partly idiomorphic. The ratio of schreyerite to rutile is strongly variable. In one sec-tion, rutile crystals devoid of schreyerite coexist with others containing predominantly schreyerite. Inter-

pubs.geoscienceworld.org/msa/.../schreyerite-v2ti3o9-new-occurrence-and-crystal Reinvestigation of schreyerite from the type locality indicates that this sample has cell dimensions and symmetry corresponding to the Sludyanka sample. The structure of schreyerite may be considered as a 1:1 polysome composed of slabs of berdesinskiite, V 2 TiO 5, and Ti 2 O 4 (a high-pressure phase of TiO 2 with α-PbO 2 structure).
